Key Stage 4 - GCSE: During these two years, students prepare for their General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) examinations. At 14 or 15, students take their GCSEs. In these years, they can choose from a wide range of compulsory and specialist optional subjects according to their interests and career goals. In order to obtain not only their British secondary school leaving certificate, but also the official Spanish secondary school leaving certificate, LMI College students take not only their compulsory and optional subjects in English, but also the core subjects corresponding to the 3rd and 4th year of ESO (Spanish Compulsory Secondary Education). In this way, at the end of Year 11, our pupils obtain both the GCSE – British Certificate of Secondary Education and their ESO – Spanish Certificate of Compulsory Secondary Education. Sixth Form - AS y A-Level: After completing their GCSEs, many students choose to continue their secondary education in order to enter university at a later date. This last stage of non-compulsory secondary education (equivalent to bachillerato in the Spanish system) covers Years 12 and Year 13 and usually corresponds to ages between 16 and 18. At these levels, students generally choose between three and four subjects in which they specialise and study in depth. These are all specific subjects of their choice which qualify them for entry to Spanish, British, American, European and international universities.
